In this free tour, we will explore the city, discovering its colorful streets, colonial architecture, and inexhaustible cultural life.
We will start at the Zócalo, the quintessential meeting point and stage for Oaxacan social and political life. Here, among music, conversations, and popular expressions, you can feel the true pulse of the city. Very close by, we will visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, built with the emblematic green quarry stone that distinguishes Oaxaca and considered one of the most important jewels of its religious heritage.
Later, we will arrive at the San Pablo Cultural Center dedicated to the conservation of local heritage. We will continue to the Macedonio Alcalá Theater, a reference for Oaxacan performing arts, recognized for its elegant art nouveau style and for being the stage where Mario Moreno “Cantinflas” debuted. Then we will visit the Temple of Santo Domingo, with its golden interior and impressive architecture, it is the emblem par excellence internationally recognized as a jewel of Mexican heritage.
Before continuing, we will visit the Institute of Graphic Arts of Oaxaca, created by Francisco Toledo, an ideal place to get closer to the art and cultural life of the city. We will also make a stop at the Temple of Carmen Alto, closely linked to the tradition of the Guelaguetza.
