Ken was a great guide and made 3 hrs of history feel genuinely fascinating. We explored George Town’s past through the lens of Chinese migration, everyday life and politics, as well as the secret societies and gang wars that shaped the city. There was a lot of information to take in, but Ken is incredibly knowledgeable, articulate, and engaging. She also had a genuine willingness to answer every question we had. A brilliant way to understand the deeper history of George Town beyond what you see on the surface.

Ken is an excellent guru. I am from China and speak Cantonese. Even though we booked an English speaking tour, she explained certain key words in Cantonese or Mandarin, which enabled me to better understand the cultures and history behind. Ken is a good story teller. The stories she told stay vividly in my mind after the tour and I can excitedly repeat with my family. Ken has good connection with neighbors along the route, such as the staff at the Penang Heritage Trust, who welcomed us warmly and introduced us this NGO, which made the trip more locally related. The route Ken designed is wonderful. I love how we started and ended closely relate with the history. I would recommend any one who is interested in the history of China immigrants to attend Ken’s walk. I hope next time I visit Penang, I can have the opportunity to attend a Chinese speaking walk with Ken.

I really enjoyed this tour with Ken. She provided me with a sense of the history of Georgetown that I would have otherwise been aware of. She explained things well and was patient and informative when questions were asked. Her attitude was light and fun and her explanations were well-informed and interesting.

An Evening Around George Town Heritage City

Guide was very kind and helpful to have a panoramic look of the city. Also, a person from the group disappeared at the second last stopover and didn’t leave any tip for the guide, who didn’t say anything about it and remained professional. Also, special mention to the fact that he kept some pictures of George Town taken back in his youth, to show us a the evolution in time of some buildings and situations. Very much appreciated. Recommended.

We did the George Town's Dark Past: Chinese Migration & Gang Wars tour with CC Ang and it was brilliant!! . My sons and I enjoyed it a lot, CC Ang is a very nice person , very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We got a lot of information and a very good understanding about the history of George Town and its Chinese society. The three hours went really quick! 😊

很值得的一个tour～讲解的非常详细，包括槟城很多有趣的华人移民史和历史故事，也会对不同宗教和民族融合有更深的理解。 导游超级有耐心！对于“知识点”比较多的问题都会有打印好的材料帮助理解，全程走下来也不会太累（当然挺热的） 比起去博物馆打卡、去饭店排队，感觉是来槟城最值的一趟行程了！ 我觉得是一个非常好的方式可以对这个城市的历史有更深的了解，听完之后也会对各种景点产生兴趣，可以自己再慢慢去逛。

The tour was amaaaaaaazing, we started with the nyonya cakes, to continúe to a skewers stall where we can taste for the first time the 100 year eggs and bloody clams, but if you are not into them you can choose less "brave" options, after that he took us to little india to try several classic and no so classic dishes to end and the chewy jetty.

Erina gave us a wonderful walking tour full of interesting facts, put us in touch with local culture and brought history back to life. We have been experienced a Georgetown guided tour before but we did not find any repetition, everything was fresh. Highly recommended!

Our guide Eskay was absolutely amazing! We started on time from the meeting point, and we visited so many different places. He also made sure to include short breaks when needed and even treated us to some delicious Indian tea and samosas for free. The tour was fun and engaging, and he did a great job keeping everyone’s attention throughout. His English was excellent, which made everything easy to understand. Even though we had already been in Georgetown for two days, Eskay showed us many new and interesting places that we would never have discovered on our own. Everything was truly excellent. I highly recommend taking a tour with him to everyone!

Highly recommend the walking tour around Georgetown with JS! He is incredibly passionate, thorough, and well-versed in the history and culture of Penang, which really comes across throughout the tour. We spent around 5 hours walking around Georgetown, exploring the town and learning so many cool and unique tidbits along the way. It was a great way to see the city beyond the usual tourist spots and understand its history and culture on a much deeper level. If you’re in Penang and want to explore Georgetown while learning about its fascinating history, I definitely recommend booking a walking tour directly with JS!
