Free walking tours in Hanoi

Sofia was wonderfully professional and passionate about ensuring her guests received all the information they wanted. It was a long tour, on a very hot day, so she ensured we could stop for rests as needed. This was much appreciated. The historic aspects of the tour were explained well. Overall, the tour gave us a good grounding of the different aspects how this country has developed, and the influences that have made it so diverse. Thanks Sofia.

We had the absolute pleasure of being guided around Hanoi by Julia today, and I can’t recommend her enough. From the moment we started, she brought the city’s rich culture and complex history to life with incredible storytelling, warmth, and humor. Throughout our walk, we visited key landmarks like Ly Thai To Statue, Sword Lake, the Heritage House, Kim Ngan Temple, and even Train Street — all while weaving in fascinating insights about Vietnamese traditions, sacred animals, the concept of yin-yang and the five elements, and the country’s long and resilient path to independence. Julia has a gift for making history engaging and accessible. She answered all our questions thoughtfully and even welcomed our perspectives with genuine curiosity. You can tell she truly loves what she does and wants every guest to walk away with a deeper appreciation for Vietnam. Beyond the information, what stood out most was Julia’s kindness and joy — she made us feel not like tourists, but like welcomed friends. This tour wasn’t just informative, it was truly memorable. Thank you, Julia, for such a joyful day in Hanoi. If you’re visiting the city, don’t miss the chance to explore it with her!

Discover Hoa Lo Prison and a hidden Paris in the heart of Hanoi

Merci encore, Thien !

As this was my second trip to Hanoi, Hanako managed to skip the places i had previously visited and brought me to other locations where i had yet to visit. Loved the experience of going into the alleys to see how the locals live. Hanako mentioned i was his first ever tourist for his trip, so i am honored to be his first. He is friendly and loves to share. You will surely enjoy your trip with him.

A brilliant introduction to the Old Town which definitely covered areas that I would otherwise have overlooked. A good mix of "tourist" and "local" sights. Melody is an engaging and interesting host who is clearly passionate about her city, and egg coffee!

Our guide, Stella, was great. She's very knowledgeable and she could answer all of our follow up questions. Her stories about her family with regards to the war grounded our understanding of the struggle of the Vietnamese people. We toured the war museum and hoa lu prison. Our tour experience was definitely made better because of her.
