Tour with a local research chef through the history and Creole flavors of the historic heart of Lima.
Tour description
I invite you to explore the heart of the Historic Center with me.
My name is Víctor Hugo Urteaga, a chef and researcher passionate about the history of Lima's Creole cuisine.
This is not a traditional gastronomic tour, but a living walk where flavors, memory, and the city intertwine to understand who we are.
🌆 We start in front of the Museum of Italian Art, a key point to understand how Lima built its cosmopolitan face. Then we walk towards the pre-Hispanic past at Plaza Francia and the Josefina Ramos de Cox Museum, to discover the oldest roots of our diet.
From there, we embark on a sensory journey that connects history, migrations, traditional dishes, and key figures of Lima's culture such as Pancho Fierro, Ricardo Palma, and Rosa Mercedes Ayarza, among many others.
Throughout this tour, we will not only taste and talk about food: we will read the city from a different and deeper angle, understanding where we come from, who contributed their inputs, who we are today, and how all of this shaped the gastronomic boom that Peru is experiencing.
