Minho Free Walking Tours owes its name to the region where it operates: Minho, the North West of Portugal. At the moment we have tours available in the cities of Braga and Guimarães and we only work with local guides. In that, we are the only ones who work like this 😊 We love our region and our people! Tour description

Discover with us this wonderful UNESCO World Heritage Site in Braga! On this tour you will enjoy the grandeur of this baroque pearl mixed with nature. With local guides, you will understand our religious, traditional and cultural heritage through a visit to Bom Jesus do Monte. By reservation only!

This visit begins at the façade of the church.

The current Sanctuary began to be built in 1722, under the patronage of the Archbishop of Braga, Rodrigo de Moura Telles. His coat of arms is seen above the portal, at the beginning of the stairs. Under his direction, the first row of stairs was completed, with chapels dedicated to the Via Crucis. Each chapel is decorated with wooden sculptures that represent the Passion of Christ. He also sponsored the next stair segment, which is zigzag-shaped and dedicated to the Five Senses. Each sense (sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste) is represented by a different source.
