About Huelva

The south of Spain has a large number of tourist destinations of great interest, perfect for enjoying a small weekend getaway or a long vacation. An example of this is the Andalusian city of Huelva; located in an enviable place, between the mouth of the river Tinto and Odiel - forming a curious peninsula known as Punta del Sebo - offers a wide cultural offer, an interesting heritage and a really interesting gastronomy, such as its famous prawns, coquillas, mojama de tuna, potatoes with choco, Iberian ham, or their sweet Gañotes.

It has always been of great interest to several cultures, being possible to find traces of towns such as the Roman or Greek in the city. Its importance is such that it was considered for many years as "The Atlantic Gate" for its high strategic value and commercial weight, especially during the colonization of the American continent. This city in the community of Andalusia is one of the favorite places for tourists who want to enjoy an attractive destination, with a great leisure offer and a lively life throughout the year. When visiting the city it is advisable to use the free walking tour in Huelva, a simple and comfortable option to visit the most interesting places of this Andalusian corner, which offers stops as obligatory as the central Plaza de las Monjas and its impressive Monument to Columbus, a typical meeting point of the town; Another must-see is the Mudejar and Gothic monastery of La Rabida, or the “Gran Vía Onubense”, known as the Martín Alonso Pinzón Avenue. The Monument to the Virgen del Rocío in the Plaza del Punto, is another place of great interest to visit.

Other recommended stops are the Cathedral of La Merced and the Mercado del Carmen, where you can check the typical products of the land, as well as El Parque Moret or the City Hall. Those who wish to visit some of the museums can go to the interesting Zenobia Camprubí House Museum and the Martín Alonso Pinzón House Museum. Another recommended activity is a walk through El Muelle del Tinto or the Muelle de las Carabelas, where you can discover the replicas of La Niña, La Pinta and La Santa María. Visitors who arrive in the city for the first time and wish to enjoy the most important points of the town, can opt for the free tour in Huelva, an excellent alternative to the usual excursions, which often do not know how to make the most of the visit to the city.
